Chorus Campaign 2023-24

What a season! Your passion and dedication this season have resonated and excited audiences, helping push forward the artistry and community connection through Richmond. Thank you for being a powerful part of this incredible season, and the Richmond Symphony Chorus community. As we look back on our year, we are reminded of the stunning performances and work we did together: Carmina Burana at Wolf Trap, Roxanna Panufnik's Across the Line of Dreams, the world premiere of Zachary Wadsworth's Letter to the City. And, we could not be more excited to be embarking on the journey of Verdi's Requiem with Valentina Peleggi, and the new Richmond Symphony Chorus Director, Richard Robbins! 2023-24 is already one for the books!
As we kick off this next exciting portion of our season, we also want to take a moment to come together and recognize a very special member of our community who passed away in the fall, Rick Sample. This year's Chorus Campaign will be focused on a program near and dear to Rick's heart - Verdi Requiem, and specifically, to dedicating that program to his memory.

The Symphony and Chorus were among Rick's greatest passions and we invite you to make a gift to this year's Chorus Campaign and help us honor his love for music and our organization, by ending this year on both an artistic and financial high note.

All new and increased gifts made to this campaign will be matched by Joe Murillo and Caroline Orlando–who worked alongside Rick on the Symphony and Foundation boards for many years, to ensure the artistic growth, community impact, and financial stability of the orchestra. This matching campaign is close to their hearts, and ours.
The last Chorus Campaign raised over $27,000 and your contributions directly impacted the artistic and educational programming that not only bring joy to our lives, but to those of the Richmond community we serve as well.

​​Frequently Asked Questions

How can I make a gift to the Chorus Campaign?
  • Gifts can be made to the Richmond Symphony via credit or debit card, cash or check, through gifts of stock, or by initiating a gift from your donor-advised fund or as a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA. Additionally, employer matching gifts can be utilized as many companies will match a donation made, or even your volunteer hours with the Chorus!
What if I've already made a gift to the Symphony this year? Can that be counted towards the Campaign and how do I make sure it is? 
  • If you've made a gift, you can call or email Kiaya Smith to ensure that it is already designated to the Campaign, or ask that it be updated to reflect your preference. 
What does my gift directly support?
  • All gifts to the Chorus Campaign immediately impact the annual fund for the Richmond Symphony, which supports all artistic, educational and community programming for the Symphony; including performances and resources necessary to bolster Chorus activities that are all a vital part of our annual operating budget.
Does someone have to be in the Chorus or be a former Chorus member to make a gift to the campaign? 
  • No! Anyone can make a gift to support the campaign, as long as they note "Chorus Campaign" when they make their gift over the phone, online, or via mail. 
I prefer to make my gift / I always donate in June. Can I still make my gift then and be counted to campaign and recognized at the Verdi concerts? 
  • Yes! You can pledge your gift in writing to the Symphony by:
    • Sending an email to Kiaya Smith with your pledged gift amount, the date you'd like to pay on, and method you'd like to use to pay your pledge OR,
    • By filling out the Gift Form indicating you're making a pledge, the specific pledged gift amount, date you'd like to pay, and method you'd prefer to use to pay your pledge.

All pledges in writing made by May 17th will be included in the total recognized at the Verdi Requiem concerts.

The Symphony kindly requests that all pledges to this year's Campaign are paid in full by June 30, 2024.
